Star Wars Autumn Big Bang Sign-Ups Open!

This is an autumn-themed big bang event for the Star Wars fandom. Sign-ups open May 1st and close May 30th for people who want to be matched with an artist or author to work with. Sign-ups close July 1st for pinch hitters and August 1st for solo creators. Final drafts are due on September 15th and works will begin to be revealed on September 22nd.

What’s a big bang? A group of artists and authors creating a set of fanworks centered around the same theme. Some participants will work alone, and others will work in an artist-author partnership. Depending on the partnership, one of them might already have an idea that they both work on, or they might come up with something new together. Our sign-up form asks for preferences to match accordingly.

Functionally, this is a mix of ‘exchange’ and ‘bang’, in that the sign-ups work like an exchange’s would, and the rest of the event is structured like a bang would be. It’s being referred to as a bang rather than an exchange because that best describes the way the majority of the event is run, and because participants are not creating gifts for each other, they’re working together to create an art/fic pairing for the event.

What’s autumn-themed mean? Simply put, fanworks will focus on autumn activities and celebrations! This could be anything that would take place in the autumn season, from Halloween to Rosh Hashanah to corn mazes to pumpkin-picking. Fanworks can take place at any point in the Star Wars timeline and feature any characters. OCs, AUs, and crossovers are welcome.

How are artists and authors matched? Our sign-up form asks what you want to create, what you want to avoid, what category you want to create for, and a couple of other preferences. Matches will be made based on that info. If you run into any problem with your match, let us know, and we’ll either help you work things out or assign pinch hitters.

Who can participate? We have sign-ups open for authors, artists, betas, and pinch hitters. There’s no minimum for participation. Any fanwork that’s created for the event and submitted to the collection on AO3 will be included. To be paired with an artist or author, however, you must sign up by May 30th (or July 1st for pinch hitters) and commit to one of the following categories:

• 5-10k fic / one piece of art
• 10-20k fic / two pieces of art
• 20k+ fic / three pieces of art
